Interesting podcast. There is a new perspective to what power is, according to Jeremy Heimans. What I gathered is that there is potential in getting things done when an entity involves the general public.
Consider the methods of Kickstarter. Instead of getting a few high-profile investors to fund a project, the general public can become investors in their own right. The more they give, the more they receive, apparently.
I've realized this is something the church has been doing for the longest time. In fact, it traces back to the earliest days of the church, in Acts. Everyone chipped in with the common 'project' of helping one another, one of many ways we practice how we love one another, as Christ loves us.
I suppose Jeremy Heimans sees more of this happening in other sectors of society. I didn't know President Obama employed crowdfunding tactics during his campaign. I wasn't for him but I certainly noticed an increased fervor in those who supported him - perhaps this was due to the opportunity presented, that each and everyone who was for him could actually matter in their own small efforts to help.
This, as a conclusion, is how we ought to lead - by empowering those who follow, and encouraging them at every step of the way that everything that they do matters. This certainly is the case in the body of Christ - He causes all things to happen for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.
Let us stay focused on Christ, and let us continue to love one another, assuring each other that our efforts - no matter how big or small, no matter how perfect or flawed they could be according to our senses - our efforts are never, never in vain.
