JB Shoots: Remorse, Regret, Repentance Revisited

040211

I wrote about this before.

Regret is feeling bad after we hurt ourselves.

Remorse is feeling bad after we hurt other people.

Repentance is what we should do when we hurt God.

Sin is sin.

Paul wrote that, "the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). He did not mention that little sins just get you a whack in the forehead, and that only dictators, drug lords and pimps bite the dust.

Sin is sin.

I took the pictures you see in this post feeling this heavy feeling associated with remorse, regret, and repentance. I tell you, in your walk with Christ, one of the worst things you can do is to sin even if you are well aware that God is watching you. The feeling of guilt and distance from God is simply not worth the second of 'happiness' that the enemy deceives you to take.

I'm thankful for who the Lord is. He said in His Word that if we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us and to clean us of all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). See, God never leaves us. Nothing can ever separate us from His Love through Jesus Christ (Romans 8:38-39) It's just that when we sin, we take a step further from Him, we take a step closer to death.

We will definitely fall. Though we should always strive and drive for perfection and holiness, we are still human and susceptible to sin. When we fall, we shouldn't wallow in guilt and condemnation. As soon as we are conscious or brought aware to our sin, we should confess it to the Lord through Jesus Christ. There is no condemnation in Jesus Christ (Romans 8:1).

Bounce back. He still has your back.

Need help? I'm your brother.

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

James 5:16

God bless you.
