No Shortcuts - Another Note To Myself

Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:4 NKJV)

Delighting in the Lord should be our primary desire. I know that many people are prone to saying that we only see the second part of this verse, and I agree. We all have goals, and these goals are oftentimes the desires of our hearts, and it's even more likely that our eyes are fixed on them, ignoring the fact that we should dwell and delight in God's presence through Jesus Christ before anything else. This has also actually been a problem of mine lately, and by God's grace I have been reminded many times these past few days that the desires of our hearts are nothing if we do not delight in the Lord first.

Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. (Psalm 55:22 NKJV)

Any idols, anything that may hinder us in making the daily decision of submitting our whole being unto the Lord - we must cast them all on Him. This is a reminder for me, a call to righteousness which can only be attained through total dependence on Jesus Christ. As we delight in the Lord, we are sustained, and our desires shall follow.

Delight in the Lord today... Spend more time with the Lord... God bless you..
