Florence Applying Dye On Marion's Hair - August 15, 2008 |
These are easily two of my favorite shots taken.
Mom and Dad were always telling each other that they would stop putting dye on their hair as soon as they reached 70. They were always so diligent and disciplined to set other things aside whenever their hair was getting just a little bit too gray for their tastes.
One thing I remember is that they always had a conversation whenever they took turns in putting dye on each others crowns. Now that I think of it, one thing I remember about them is that they never stopped talking to each other. True, they had disagreements and they raised their voices every now and then but they never stopped talking to each other.
As I was going through Proverbs 15 earlier today I read a verse, 'A wholesome tongue is a tree of life...'
Indeed, I believe communication was one thing that kept my parents together for 36 years until the Lord took Dad home. I believe their personal relationship flourished as a tree with every conversation they had.
I know Fathers' Day is coming up. I couldn't let it pass without acknowledging not just our Colonel, our Dad, but the wonderful marriage they had.
Miss you, 'Tay. I love you so much.
