Living In Praise

By humility and the fear of the Lord Are riches and honor and life. (Proverbs 22:4 NKJV)

You who fear the Lord, praise Him! All you descendants of Jacob, glorify Him, And fear Him, all you offspring of Israel! (Psalm 22:23 NKJV)

The humble do eat and are satisfied, Praise Jehovah do those seeking Him, Your heart doth live for ever. (Psalms 22:26, Young's Literal Translation)

From these verses I am led to believe that praise can also be called an act of humility towards God, as much as humility towards God is an act of praise. I am also led to believe that we praise the Lord in reverent fear of Him, and by the fear of the Lord, we praise Him.

Praising God with humility and the fear of the Lord is praising Him in recognition of who we are and who He is:

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. -John 15:5

God is our source, and Jesus Christ is the only way we have direct access to Him (John 14:6). We cannot do anything without Him.

As humility and the fear of the Lord are qualities and not just actions, so our desire to praise God through Jesus Christ should be a permanent part of our being. By God's grace I believe that we are capable of sustaining and supporting the mindset of giving Him all the glory and adoration ALL THE TIME and not just during church activities.

Praise puts everything in its place. God is enthroned, and we are constantly on our knees before Him, in spirit and in truth.

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD forever. Amen.
