No, this isn't about food, sorry.
Doesn't it just seem like such a drag when particular situations which aren't comfortable to you are experienced with a whole bunch of people around you with popcorn and a pathetic need to be entertained? I personally find it distracting, distasteful, and pitiful that there are some people who just like observing you, waiting for you to say something that they can exploit. They're like leeches, feeding off of you for their own benefit.
It's like people who take credit for something that you didn't say out loud. The group is laughing at your joke shouted out by someone else, and you're left alone with this frustrated feeling towards him or her, somewhere along the lines of 'you probably couldn't think of that in the first place, you (insert profanity here)'. They're like leeches, feeding off of you for their own benefit.
My true lament here is that we are all suseptible or bound to do the same thing to an unfortunate person, in one way or the other. I'm not particularly immune from it myself. At times I might be a leech, feeding off of you for my own benefit.
The leech is a parasite. But if these creatures had the intelligence to choose, would they still take the risk of sucking blood off of creatures that may kill them (usually with great relish), or would they rather obtain sustenance from a safe source? Would they choose to rely on an ultimately non-renewable commodity to survive, or would they rather rely on an eternal source, which would accept them if they only trusted in Him?
Idol worship is apparently not limited to material things. It's sad that some people consider their friends as more important than the God that made them.
I just kicked myself in the ass there, but I'm thankful that this sort of lesson is better realized than nailed to your head by someone you were feeding off of.
